Pre-organization stage:
Before the formal charter and registration of ACCA, there was a group of chiropractic doctors in the Southern California area that periodically met and discussed current events among the chiropractic profession. Among those were Drs. Irene Lin, Victor Tong, Paul Yan, George Leung, Gilbert Wong, etc. Most of the meetings were held in a social setting, picnics and dinners.
Establishment:
In the early 1990’s, Drs Gerald Liu, Victoria Liao, Brian Chen, etc. saw a need to stop other non-professional people from infringing the practice rights of Chiropractic. So ACCA was organized and established. This organized effort was to aim to eliminating confusion of what chiropractic is among the public eyes. Oriental Medicine practitioners, Acupuncturists at that time frequently advertised in the yellow pages under the section of Chiropractic. Shortly after the formation of the organization, a full page advertisement regarding the mission of the ACCA was published in Chinese yellow pages, plus a list of ACCA membership in the Southern California.
Current Development:
With chiropractic demand increases in various countries, legislative regulation is badly needed. ACCA has been actively assisting TCDS (Taiwan Chiropractic Doctors’ Society) to lobby support for chiropractic. Fund raising through auction was organized on Feb 04, 2006. Monetary support as well as personal visits was contributed to help our colleagues in Taiwan. To further our good will, more membership support is needed.
